Sir Alex FergusonAnounces Retirement



Manchester United announced the retirement of long-time manager Alex Ferguson through its official Twitter account, Wednesday, May 8.
After 26 years on the job, Ferguson leaves a club he just led to its 20th English Premier League title last month.

 According to the official United website, Ferguson will bow out after the West Bromwich Albion game on May 19 and then join the football club's board.



Sir Alex who is one of the most successful manager in football history states "The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly," said the manager, who led the club to 13 EPL titles. "It is the right time."

Finishing his career as the most successful manager in English football history, Ferguson will now be a Director and Ambassador for Manchester United.

"With these activities, along with my many other interests, I am looking forward to the future," he said.

After taking over the club in 1986, Ferguson has steered United to a total of 38 titles, including 2 Champions League crowns, 5 FA Cups and 5 League Cups
