A 40-year-old woman, Evelyn Ehis, has
been taken to the Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State for
allegedly biting one Basiru Ismaila on his chest.
She was also said to have scratched another woman, Somorin Bukola, on the neck.
Both Ismaila and Bukola were officials
of the Kosofe Local Government Area, who were sent to lock up Ehis’
house on the instruction of the LGA.
Ehis, who was arraigned on five counts
of assault and obstruction, was also accused of tearing Ismaila’s
“native shirt valued N3,500.”
The charge sheet read in part, “That
you, Evelyn Ehis,f, on the 12th day of July, 2013 at about 1340hrs, at
No 10 Olufeyisan Street, Oworonsoki Lagos State in the Lagos
Masgisterial District did obstruct one Sobowale Rasheed,m, and two
others attached to Kosofe Local Government Area office, Oworonsoki from
performing their lawful duty.”
The prosecutor said the offence was
punishable under Section 117(2) of the criminal law No 11Vol 44 Laws of
Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.
Ehis said she was not guilty of the charges.
The magistrate, Mr. P.A Ojo, granted her bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
